We Suffer from our Expectations
We Suffer from our Expectations #perception #thinking #reality
We all suffer from our expectations of how we think things and people should be
As most of us know…
We process information (through our brain filter) differently from everybody else, because of the way we’re brought up, culturally and geographically, what experiences we’ve had, and the way we are wired will fashion the way we perceive the world (our reality is our own)
When other people and things don’t match up to our expectations we feel let down and disappointed, basically we are setting ourselves up to get hurt.
“If you can’t change the circumstances, change your perspective” –Unknown
It’s probably best to lower our expectations and remember that other people are different, unfortunately they won’t think and act the way we do.
I used to get upset wondering why people did what they did and why cant they be more like me! (never going to happen)
We need to let go of unrealistic expectations (easily said than done)
So focus on the things we can change and try to forget about the things we can’t
“When we can no longer change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor Frankl
